UTILITY SURVEYS (PAS128:2022)
Part of our Data Acquisition Solution
A comprehensive in-house utility survey service that includes a wide range of utility mapping solutions, to gain a clear understanding of what lies beneath the ground. Utility surveys contribute towards the seamless planning and execution of our clients construction or site investigation projects, to aid compliance with best practice and to protect your employees.
Our utility surveys are undertaken and delivered in accordance with PAS128:2022 which defines the best practice to be adopted by all survey practitioners.
We offer a range of services, from the acquisition of buried services plans from statutory providers (Desktop C2 STATS Search; PAS128 Type D), to full site surveys which locate and map the location, depth and alignment of buried services, using non-intrusive technology (PAS128 Survey Type B).
Our Experience
We have over 20 years of experience in locating and mapping buried services, and our surveyors are at minimum QCL Level 3 qualified (or working towards this qualification). All of our surveyors and drawing technicians are familiar in delivering survey information which complies with PAS128:2022 and understand the importance of providing accurate, unambiguous and complete survey information.
Key Benefits
Safety – reduced risk to workers and the public
Minimising the risk of damage to existing utilities
Ability to better plan service diversion requirements
Minimising project delays
A permanent record is provided for use in site management and future development
What is Utility Surveying?
We provide comprehensive utility surveys using the very latest technology and methodology. Electromagnetic locators (using both passive and active techniques) enable us to locate metallic services such as power cables, cast iron mains and various telecommunication cables.
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems enable us to validate electromagnetic location findings, and to locate the the non-metallic utilities that can go undetected by the use of electromagnetic locators alone. GPR techniques can also be used to detect underground features, including air voids, water, metal, concrete and layers in the ground (geology).
This information is then mapped by topographical survey techniques (typically GNSS or total station capture) and a digital CAD file is produced that clearly shows all the utilities present.
What Can Utility Surveys Help To Detect?
Gas, water, electricity & telecommunication services
Non-metallic services
Drainage pipes
Voids, Tunnels, Cellars & Foundations
Disturbed &/or saturated soil
Potential sub-surface hazards or obstructions
