CAD & MODELLING

Part of our Data Delivery & Analytics Solution

Our dedicated team of office staff, comprising experienced surveyors and computer-aided design (CAD) technicians, can undertake a variety of data post-processing and modelling processes to produce a range of survey outputs. We can produce bespoke deliverables from site data (normally a registered point cloud) to meet our clients’ requirements.

CAD

Drafting 2D & 3D dimensional CAD (Computer-Aided Design), drawing from different inputs data sources, such as:

  • Field-collected survey data and topographical drawings
  • Extraction from point-cloud and photogrammetry data
  • Georeferencing and digitalisation of historical plans and drawings
  • New design

3D Models

We can transform your site information into clean 3D and Revit models.

Structure Modelling

  • Solids
  • Wireframes
A computerised model produced by Central Alliance of a pumping station.

Surface Models

Surface models have a structured triangulated surface and stockpiles surface for volume calculation.

A digital terrain model (DTM) is a representation of bare ground surfaces and is used for lots of applications, from flood defence and ground stability analyses to base planning and production of contours.

Digital surface model (DSM) or digital elevation model (DEM) is a representation of the earth’s surface generated from the first return on the signal. It is often used for calculation of the vegetation coverage and clearances in urban and non-urban areas.

A computerised aided design model of a site.
Revit

Autodesk’s Revit is popular BIM software that is used in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC industry). Revit allows entire buildings or parts of buildings to be modelled with all associated families and libraries, which is very useful for all parties involved in construction projects. Revit models are often integrated with BIM platforms to allow interactive design and assessment.

Revit in survey—a number of our clients benefit from this service, in which we take site-collected survey data from different sources and turn this into a digital twin Revit model with different levels of detail. The final product is a lot easier to understand without having to analyse heavy survey data sets.
