REMOTE INSTRUMENTATION & MONITORING

Part of our Data Acquisition, Data Delivery & Analytics Solutions

Remote Instrumentation and Monitoring provides critical intelligence that supports engineers in making informed decisions at every stage of a project, from site investigation and design verification, to safety assurance and performance review.

Our Instrumentation and Monitoring team enables clients to understand and manage their assets effectively. We recognise that the data and information that we acquire has high value, and our job is to extract that data and present it in a useful and coherent way.

By incorporating our remote monitoring systems into your projects, you can expect:

  • Enhanced safety across key infrastructure assets
  • Data-driven decision-making based on real-time insights
  • Alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lower maintenance costs through a proactive, preventative approach to asset management

Monitoring Capability

In practice, we can monitor virtually anything that has a sensor.

From temperature, pressure, and humidity to motion, energy usage, and even asset location, enabling real-time data delivery to users anywhere in the world. Central Alliance has extensive experience in the design, installation, and monitoring of a wide range of bespoke instrumentation projects in the environment, water, geotechnical, construction and transport sectors; but we’re not limited to just those.

Our Remote Instrumentation & Monitoring Services

Geotechnical Monitoring

Accurate monitoring underpins safe and effective operations and asset management, allowing resource to be focussed where it is most needed whilst mitigating risk. With increasing climate risk, the ability to track ground movement, stress, groundwater pressures, and performance in real time enables early intervention and helps minimise unexpected downtime.

Our offering includes:

  • Inclinometers
  • Settlement monitoring including extensometers & Automatic Settlement Profilers
  • GNSS automated settlement and ground movement monitoring
  • Groundwater monitoring – standpipes & piezometers
  • Vibrating Wire Piezometer’s (VWP’s)
  • Earthwork Failure Detection systems (EFD)
  • Soil moisture monitoring
  • Rock slope monitoring
  • Coastal erosion monitoring
  • Surcharge monitoring (pressure cell)
  • Remote sensing
Environmental Monitoring

Environmental Monitoring Systems measuring physical, chemical, and biological conditions and can be established in environments that range from sensitive indoor spaces like museums, hospitals, data centres and schools, to broader natural ecosystems.

We can monitor many variables; some are listed below:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Light level
  • Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide and other gas volumes
  • Air velocity
  • Differential air pressure
  • Local weather and climate

Infrastructure Monitoring

Remote condition monitoring can provide real-time data for the most critical infrastructure including rail and road networks.

We can apply our remote monitoring to the below infrastructure assets:

  • Tunnels, bridges, structures and earthworks including loads, deformation, vibration, and temperature
  • Track geometry including twist and cant
  • Track temperature
  • Weight-in-Motion including traffic volume and axel loads

Structural Monitoring

Structural Monitoring surveys offer the ability to identify, track, and react to the movement of buildings, and structures and natural features, such as rock slopes. Remote monitoring these assets and slopes provides real-time data which can be used for emergency response or for long-term mitigation of risks.

We can assist with:

  • Joint and crack monitoring (Buildings, bridges and other assets)
  • Tilt monitoring (Buildings and other assets)
  • Rock slope monitoring
  • Bridge monitoring (Strike detection and monitoring)

Water Monitoring

Under the Environment Act 2021, water quality requires continuous monitoring and reporting, highlighting the growing importance of innovative technologies that can deliver more reliable data in a cost-effective way.

We assist our clients to meet the Environment Act, by providing the following monitoring services:

  • Water levels
  • Water turbidity and flow
  • Temperature
  • Salinity and resistivity
  • pH levels and ammonia volumes
  • Oxidation reduction potential (ORP)
  • Quantify the dissolved oxygen levels
  • Conductivity as an indication of chlorides, nitrates and phosphates
  • Total dissolved solids
  • Rain gauges

Our Cloud-Based Data Delivery & Asset Management Portal for Remote Monitoring

Sight Automation is our online data portal brand, providing bespoke and intuitive data visualisation and download platforms – as well as offering customisation such as white-labelling, public facing dashboards and user-level permissions control. It provides cost-accessible remote monitoring of assets with sustainability in mind, representing a significant advancement in the field of engineering.

Whether you’re tracking rainfall, monitoring humidity or alerting bridge strikes, Sight Automation can provide you with real-time data delivery and emergency alerts. The portal is completely customisable to the project at hand, ensuring that we can deliver any data required from any sensor deployed onto one bespoke webpage designed by us for you.
