GEOPHYSICS
Part of our Data Acquisition, Data Delivery & Analytics Solutions
Geophysical methods are essential to the industry because they allow scientists and engineers to investigate the Earth’s subsurface in a non-invasive and cost-effective way. Central Alliance’s work draws upon the latest technology, leading academic research and extensive collective experience within the organisation, to find solutions to industry challenges and problems. We take on challenges, look at them from a different perspective, find innovative technologies and different processes which address those challenges. We analyse the latest innovations and apply them to real-world situations.
History of the Team
Our Applied Technologies department was established in 2015 as a small team to innovate and introduce new technology, along with innovative and more sustainable methods of operating. Now, an extensive team of mechanical, software, hardware and engineers, together with data analysts and data acquisition specialists, we have several successful research & development projects that have revolutionised the industry.
A key focus for Central Alliance is to help transform industries through innovation, helping to unlock the business value of available technology, and to use it to improve outcomes and save money at every stage of the asset management and construction process.
Services We Provide
Synthetic Aperture Radar
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an advanced form of radar used to create high-resolution images of landscapes, objects and structures. Unlike traditional optical imaging systems, SAR operates by emitting microwave signals and capturing their echoes as they bounce off the Earth’s surface.
Central Alliance operates the industry’s only multiband synthetic aperture radar (SAR) platform, surveying to higher precision than deployed satellites, on its own dedicated class A3 UAS fleet with committed piloting crews and professionals.
CSW Testing
Continuous Surface Wave (CSW) testing is geophysical survey technique utilising a portable seismic shaker and adjacent geophone array to create a ground stiffness profile of underlying soils and geology.
CSW operates in a frequency range of 5-250Hz, produces full raw data profiles in as little as 15 minutes, and provides a cost-effective, safe and speedy alternative to traditional ground strength testing in surface soils.
Muon Tomography
Central Alliance have collaborated with Geoptic to pioneer the use of muon tomography in infrastructure investigations in the UK. By detecting cosmic ray muons, we are mapping density changes and providing valuable insights that traditional technologies cannot match.
