HEALTH, SAFETY & WELLBEING

Working safely transcends all work that we undertake within the business, and is aligned to our Safety Core Value, plus the RSK Guiding Principle ‘Maintain an unwavering commitment
to health and safety’. Our approach to health, safety and wellbeing includes:

RSK Golden Safety Rules

We fully adopt the RSK Golden Safety Rules, which the RSK Safety Council has established to help prevent occupational accidents by:

  • Clearly explaining the basic rules that everyone should know and apply
  • Strengthening prevention by encouraging the workforce to intervene if they see something being done wrong
  • Enabling the workforce to stop work if the risk is not being managed properly

Safety Leadership

We are committed to promoting a strong, positive safety culture and proactive management when it comes to H&S, in order to ensure that the entire team is safe and puts safety first.

We know that safety culture is led from the top; for this reason we conduct regular safety, health and environment inspections and safety tours, and ensure visible safety leadership on site.  We encourage open safety conversations across the workforce and regularly reward our employees for acts of proactive safety.

Compliance, Competency & Training

We have a robust compliance, competency and training process and matrix in place which is well managed to ensure all staff are trained, according to their role tasks. Central Alliance provide regular refresher training along with any required post incident training / coaching, with a goal of continually improving employee’s knowledge & competence, reducing the risk of complacency.

Documented Processes, Policies & Procedures

Building on the RSK Management System, we are committed to continually reviewing our processes, policies and procedures, ensuring they are relevant to the tasks undertaken by our employees. We seek employee input and guidance in order to improve our documentation of processes and tasks they undertake.

Managing & Mitigating Risks

We focus on ensuring that we are proactively planning, identifying and monitoring risks outside of the standard and generic Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS). We complete a range of Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRAs) and Last-Minute Risk Assessments (LMRAs), prior to activities commencing, as we know that conditions frequently change and that we have to proactively and adequately manage risks.

Drugs & Alcohol Testing

We undertake random drugs and alcohol testing during site operations to reinforce our zero-tolerance policy, and we encourage anyone to speak up if they have concerns about another person’s fitness for work.

Wellbeing

We continue to promote the wellbeing of our employees, to prevent stress, and to create a positive working environment, increasing engagement and performance throughout the business. Part of this is achieved through our People and Culture strategy work plans and initiatives, such as Individual Development Plans and Talent and Succession Planning that we are currently overhauling. We know clarity in role, upskilling and clear development plans go some way in supporting overall wellbeing.

We have a Safety Committee – members are accountable for initiating and promoting conversations across the workforce, bringing back to the management team, any safety, health or wellbeing concerns, queries or improvements for consideration, action and feedback to all employees.

In addition to Safety Committee members, we have a number of Mental Health First Aiders across the business who are there to listen, and to signpost employees to professional help and support, if needed.

We hold varied social events throughout the year, with the aim of increasing across company engagement and promoting wellbeing and a healthy culture.
